CATS is a group of engineers possessing a deep love for everything related to production and creation. We challenge ourselves to pursue unique, cutting-edge technologies that contribute to customer breakthroughs which help them become one-of-a-kind presences in the market.

Over the years, we have developed unique computer tools in the CASE (computer aided software engineering) field that contribute to optimization and sophistication of software processes and tasks in the manufacturing and engineering fields.This group of products is known as ZIPC.Through development activities, our engineers have accumulated wide-ranging knowledge and applied it toward solving problems at customer companies. This has helped us develop optimal solutions, utilizing CASE tools, to individual challenges and issues related to customer work processes― specifically, our efforts have centered primarily on microcomputer-embedding development and testing, and model-base development (MBD) tasks in advanced product development processes at manufacturers.

Throughout our corporate history, we have steadily grown our business operations in automotive-industry CASE (connected, autonomous, shared & service, electric) related fields.In April 2018, we became a subsidiary of the NTT DATA Corporation as part of our quest to better fulfill customer demands, and within this new organizational framework we have been tasked with further strengthening our next-generation solutions as part of NTT Data Group automotive business operations.In addition, we received a capital injection and personnel from NEXTY Electronics, and using these we pursue developments that make use of the Toyota Tsusho Group's automotive electronics value chain.

Amidst such changes, we are undertaking next-generation automotive technology research and development efforts at the CATS Advanced/AI/Automotive Laboratory (CAL), a laboratory founded by our company. By elevating our combined solution?product packages to the highest levels possible in order to assist next-generation automotive companies, we hope to continue serving customers as a digital products partner that they can truly trust.

Over the last thirty years, semiconductor technology has led to digitalization in a wide range of everyday products,and as semiconductor technology progresses the scale of embedded software applications grows increasingly large.Software for DVD recorders, for example, now contains more than one million lines of source code, and mobile phone software exceeds five million lines of code.In 1988, CATS developed and commercialized ZIPC, a CASE tool (computer aided software engineering tool) incorporating the world's first use of the extended hierarchical state transition matrix (EHSTM) design method. We did this in order to improve QCD (quality, cost, delivery) for embedded software,and thanks to loyal customer support ZIPC has earned widespread recognition and praise.

So what's in store for CATS over the next thirty years?To start with, we believe that artificial intelligence (AI) will be increasingly integrated into familiar products all around us,installed in the form of semiconductors, software and other such components.In addition, as fully self-driving vehicles emerge, we believe the software for this technology will require around 300 million lines of source code.At the CATS Advanced/AI/Automotive Laboratory (CAL), we plan to spend the next three decades researching and developing hybrid AI that combines data-driven AI (deep learning) and model-driven AI (rules, ontologies).

CATS
